Tucked away in the Jarrah forest a distinctive building stands out, a charming contrast to John Streater’s vintage 1960s workshop.
The plan was to create a single-level accessible home that was easy to maintain, making rural living a possibility for Rowan’s Mum Pam. The solution was a 32m long stark rectangular box with covered and uncovered alfresco areas, separate nurses’ quarters and a drive-and-drop area with an electric sliding door.
The finished project provided a modern custom-designed home that perfectly serviced the accessible needs of the family. To finish, the dark max line cladding and timber feature panelling allowed the structure to disappear into the forest.
Every wooden finish was crafted by John in his workshop, paying homage to the original family home Streater Cottage, built by hand in the 1980’s.
