Hall & Prior engaged Mayfair Building Co to deliver the design and construction of the Time to Think facility at Wycombe Grove, a purpose-built, short-stay transitional aged care home supporting older Western Australians following hospital discharge.
Delivered in an accelerated timeframe of approximately nine months from handover to completion, the project was a significant achievement for the Mayfair team. The facility comprises 22 single resident rooms with shared amenities, alongside re-enablement therapy spaces, communal living areas, and landscaped gardens designed to encourage movement, calm, and connection.
As a specialist transitional care environment, Wycombe Grove supports residents during a 28-day stay while they consider their longer-term care options. The design prioritises accessibility, safety, and dignity, creating a home-like setting that feels reassuring rather than institutional. Outdoor pathways and seating areas were carefully integrated to encourage residents and visiting family members to spend time outdoors, supporting wellbeing and recovery.
Wycombe Grove was selected by the Western Australian Government as a flagship location for the Time to Think program, marking a nationally significant milestone in aged care reform. The facility welcomed its first resident in August 2024 and was officially recognised with a visit from the WA Premier and senior ministers shortly after opening.
This project reflects Mayfair’s capability in delivering complex, fast-tracked aged care environments that meet stringent compliance requirements while remaining warm, functional, and people-focused. Our ongoing relationship with Hall & Prior ensures the facility continues to evolve in response to resident needs and care models over time.
