Solar, Integrated From the Start
INTEGRATED ENERGY PLANNING FOR MODERN AUSTRALIAN HOMES / INTEGRATED SERVICE
February 3, 2026
The most successful solar systems are the ones you barely notice. They are designed early, planned carefully, and integrated seamlessly into the home. At Mayfair, we treat solar as part of the home’s infrastructure, not an afterthought.
Solar is no longer optional for high performing homes, but how it is designed makes all the difference. When solar is integrated during the design and build phase, it works harder, lasts longer, and complements the home rather than competing with it.
Why solar matters more than ever
Solar is no longer a future consideration. It is simply part of how Australian homes perform today.
When it is done properly, solar reduces long term running costs, supports energy independence, and helps a home feel more comfortable year round. But the real value of solar is not just in the panels themselves. It sits in how and when the system is integrated into the home.
Too often, solar is treated as something to think about later. Panels added once the build is complete. Roof lines compromised. Wiring retrofitted. Performance limited before the system even begins.
At Mayfair, we approach solar differently. We see it as part of the home’s infrastructure. Considered early. Designed carefully. Working quietly in the background for years to come.
Why integrated solar changes everything
Solar sits at the intersection of architecture, electrical planning and construction. Which means it only truly works when those elements are aligned from the beginning.
When solar is integrated during the design and build phase, it allows us to think more holistically about the home as a whole.
We can consider things like:
Roof orientation and pitch
Panel placement and visual impact
Electrical load planning based on real family use
Allowances for future needs as life changes
Battery readiness without committing before you are ready
Long term performance, not just day one output
The result is a system that feels intentional. One that performs efficiently without drawing attention to itself. Solar that supports the home rather than competing with it.
The best systems are the ones you barely notice.
This is where Mayfair’s integrated services offer a genuine advantage.
Our solar partner: Hughes Electrical Group
Solar by Mayfair is delivered in partnership with Hughes Electrical Group, a Perth based electrical and solar specialist founded by Ben Hughes.
Hughes is not a reseller. They are not sales driven. They are licensed electricians who design, install and maintain their systems themselves. No middlemen. No handovers. No run around.
As a majority owned Mayfair partner, Hughes Electrical Group is embedded into our projects. This allows us to maintain full quality control, technical oversight and continuity from early planning through to installation and ongoing support.
What sets Hughes apart is a shared commitment to:
Thoughtful planning over shortcuts
Clear, honest communication
Safety and compliance at every stage
Tailored solutions based on real site conditions
They work across single and multi storey homes, renovations and new builds, servicing Perth and wider Western Australia with the same calm, considered approach that defines the way we work at Mayfair.
Why we partner with Hughes
We partner with Hughes Electrical Group because they think the same way we do.
They value planning over speed. Precision over volume. Long term performance over quick wins.
Their electricians are involved from the very beginning, from system design through to installation. Which means decisions are made by the people who will actually be on site delivering the work.
This alignment allows us to:
Design solar alongside architectural and electrical planning
Avoid visual clutter and retrofitted solutions
Size systems properly based on how families really live
Deliver future ready homes without compromising design
It also means our clients work with one connected team, not a collection of contractors operating in isolation.
One conversation. One approach. One clear outcome.
The solar installation process
Every solar system we deliver follows a clear, structured process. It is designed to remove complexity and replace it with clarity.
1. In person consultation
A Hughes Electrical Group electrician meets with you on site. They take the time to understand your home, your energy use, and how you plan to live in the space. Roof layout, orientation and access are assessed carefully.
No assumptions. No generic packages.
2. Tailored proposal
Within 24 hours, you receive a detailed proposal outlining system size, panel layout, inverter placement, estimated energy performance and full cost transparency.
3. Review and refinement
Once you have had time to review the proposal, the team follows up to answer questions and refine the system if needed. This is about making sure it fits your lifestyle, not just your roof.
4. Applications and approvals
Hughes manages all federal and state rebate applications, compliance and paperwork on your behalf. No admin stress. No chasing approvals.
5. Installation
Once approved, installation is typically scheduled within ten business days. All work is completed by Hughes’ in house electricians, ensuring consistency and accountability.
6. Ongoing support and maintenance
After installation, Hughes remains your point of contact for performance monitoring, servicing, upgrades and future additions such as batteries.
More than panels on a roof
Solar works best when it is part of a bigger picture.
When it is integrated with electrical planning, orientation, materials and future needs, it helps create homes that are efficient, adaptable and designed for longevity.
This is not about chasing trends or ticking boxes. It is about building homes that quietly work better every single day.
It is one of the many ways Mayfair delivers value beyond construction, by bringing integrated expertise into every stage of the build.
